Hillsboro – Eugene O. “Gene” Haga, 81 of 1205 S. Maudlin Road died at 3 p.m. Monday April 1, 2002 in Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis. He had been ill a year. He was born Oct 27, 1920 in Vermillion County, attended school in Perrysville and had been a Fountain County resident most of his life, residing in Hillsboro resident since 1968. For most of his life he farmed in the Veedersburg and Kingman area.  On Jan 12, 1942 he married Eunice A. Lamb in St. Joseph Mich and she survives. Mr. Haga was a member of Bethel Community Church near Attica, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and restoring and racing antique cars at the Newport Hill Climb where he received many trophies.  He also was a master mechanic. Surviving with his wife are a son, John Haga (wife: Madonna) of Perrysville; two daughters, Pat Powell (husband: Bill) of Hillsboro and Peggy Bossaer (husband: Jeff) of Attica; a brother, Jerry Haga (wife; Jan) of Mattoon, Ill and four sisters, Elaine “Nanie” Marshall of Kingman; Irma “Sis” Jordan (husband: Harold “Cork”) of Georgetown, ill; Martha “Babe” Willis of Muscatine, iowa and Mary Reardon (husband: Chuck) of Villa Grove, Ill.
